The Metric System

I don't care what people say, I love Metric.  Sure I've heard she's not the nicest person in the world, but who is?  'Waves' has all the elements of an 'Andy Song' - They're Canadian, its a girl singing at a high register, a fast drum beat, and the song is about the ocean and waves. That pretty much does it for me.

'Waves' is the second song I've heard off their new album, fantasies, after 'help, i'm alive' (which sounds even better acoustically).

On a side note, America, when will you suck it up and use the metric system like the rest of the world?!!

Begone Dull Care

Every time I tell people that the junior boys are from 'the hammer' Hamilton, Ontario, they're quite surprised; Doesn't seem like an environment that inspires this type of music. No offense to those of you who are from Hamilton. Didn't most of the Toronto band, bruce peninsula come from Hamilton? Because I sure know they didn't come from the Bruce Peninsula.
This is a new song off the junior boys' upcoming album, begone dull care. It's called dull to pause. It isn't as epic as, in the morning, but it's pretty good. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album. If only I was as savvy as the rest of those internet bloggers out there - probably would have heard it already.

Living the Canadian Dream...

Andrew Vincent lives in Toronto, working on his PhD at York University.

When I first heard this song canadian dreams on CBC3 I honestly thought it was two hours traffic. However, I learned it was this guy, andrew vincent

This song makes me think that one day when I have kids I want them to go to University in Canada.

Great lyrics and its so fitting that's its acoustic.

To anyone who went to University in Canada, played in a college band or even remotely loves music - this song's for you.

I'm too sentimental.  James McRae, if you still had a radio show, I'd tell you to play it.

One question, Andrew: Where did the Pirates go?

You can buy his album on iTunes or at kelprecords.com

And then there was music...

Welcome to LA Music Canãda - A Music Blog.

I'm 27 and recently moved from Canada to LA.

Even after most of my friends have given up and frozen their musical tastes forever, I'm still fighting the good fight to discover new music.

I intend to post both old and new songs that I think are great. Hopefully you like them too.

Here's my first posting:

A beautiful cover of Neil Young's unknown legend by TV On The Radio's Tunde Adebimpe.  It's from the recent film rachel getting married. Tunde Adebimpe plays Rachel's groom Sidney in the story.  Everyone should go see it - It'll make you love this song even more.
